Your sump pump moves water away from your basement to keep your lower living area, laundry room and storage space safe and dry. It’s effective after heavy rainstorms and ice melts when high levels of moisture can threaten to leak in through your home’s foundation.
To install a sump pump, we create a sump pit beneath your home’s foundation and nest the pump within. The pump remains on standby until your sump pit begins to fill with rain or meltwater. When the float switch for your sump pump senses moisture, it activates and pumps the water into a drain and away from your floor. Because a sump pump uses electricity, we recommend having a battery backup in the event your power gets knocked out during a storm.
If your sump pump malfunctions, the basin it’s housed in can overflow and flood your basement. Obviously, basement flooding is a very unfortunate–and costly problem, which is why it’s so important to keep your sump pump functioning correctly. If you suspect something’s wrong with your sump pump, the experts at Tri County Plumbing & Contracting are ready to help.
